Farewell Mrs. Ginty

30th May 2024

FAREWELL MRS. GINTY: so said the artistically designed sign outside Scoil Bhride on Thursday May 9th. On a day filled with love, sadness and deep emotion, pupils, colleagues - past and present - parents and friends gathered to say farewell to a much loved principal on her retirement. The loving bond between teacher and pupil was evident from her arrival, greeted by a guard of honour by the pupils.

Each one was addressed by name and a loving embrace; colleagues were similarly greeted. All present gathered in the Assembly Hall for presentations and refreshments prepared by the staff. Proceedings were ably conducted by Acting Principal, Ms Katrina Coyne. Pupils from sixth class proclaimed in poetic rhyme, the love, the joy, the humour and the friendship Mrs. Ginty brought to Scoil Bhride.

Beautiful presentations were made by each classroom. Presentations were also made by the Parents Association and the Board of Management. Mrs. Ginty in her three and a half years in Scoil Bride portrayed a work ethic second to none. She succeeded in having two ASD classes established increasing staff numbers from six to fourteen; an extraordinary and marvellous achievement in a short period of time. Because of her efforts Scoil Bhríde is due to have an extensive extension completed in the coming years; plans have been submitted to the Department of Education. After school, teachers and staff from schools in the parish and former colleagues gathered with the present staff to say farewell to their much-loved colleague and friend and to make a suitable presentation.

Farewell Mrs. Ginty - Sarah - you are wished a continued return to good health and many happy and wonderful years with your hushand

Colm and beautiful family.

Always welcome in Killeshandra.
